      Saratoga took my lunch………………………again

      Saratoga Race 1
1, Strong Light: Drops down after facing tougher in his last two starts. He can show late speed that may get him into the money at this shorter distance. Will need some help to win. I’ll use him underneath and hope he doesn’t run a big one.
2, Psychic Income: Showed speed in his debut but got nailed at the wire. It seems Ortiz was caught by surprised. If he improves in his second start and Ortiz rides him TO THE WIRE this time, he should be a threat.
3, North Pole: Tracked Psychic Income and just couldn’t get past in the last yards. He lost the win by a neck and was claimed out of that race. Perhaps he lost his best chance to move past this condition. He’ll need a bit of luck to win today but should hit the board.
4, No Code: Gets the bug in his return to racing. He may be a step slow to threaten for a win. Pletcher does well at the claiming level and returning runners off layoffs. He may have put him in a claiming race for a reason. I’ll use him in the tri and superfectas
5, Ministerial: Ward puts him on dirt after a ho-hum effort at 5 furlongs over grass in his first start. I don’t think he challenges these for a top three spot. Maybe next time.
6, Cheeky Tico: Returns to a level that should fit him better. In his last going an eighth of a mile further he was eased against 105K maidens. Two back he gave the lead up late versus nearly similar. He should hit the board if he puts in an honest effort.

      $2.00 WPS 2
      $1.00 exacta box 1-2-3
      $1.00 exacta 1-2-3 / 1-2-3-6

      .50 cent pick five 1-2-3 / 1-5 / 4 / 1A / 3-8

      Saratoga Race 2
1, Beachfront Bid: Drops to an easier maiden claiming event. She just missed at the $90K maiden level at Belmont after some road woes. She runs well on sod but is a money burner so be careful with her. However, she’s still a big threat to hit the board somewhere.
2, Birthday Time: Staked pace setters in her last over a softer turf and missed the win by a half a length. Moves back to a level she will find tougher but if she repeats her last effort should challenge for the trifecta.
3, Diamond Status: Moves up a few levels and this should be enough to keep her out of the money if the race goes as expected. Her speed figures are a notch below these and at best she’s a superfecta runner.
4, Devilly: Her last going 5.5 furlongs at Saratoga saw her finish third but off over 4 lengths off the leaders. She’s winless in eleven lifetime starts and this should make twelve. An honest run puts her in a trifecta contention.
5, Miss Bonnie T: Missed by a neck in her last off the layoff. The bump she took could be to blame but that’s over with. Should be stronger on her second start off the break. Prat can keep her in with a chase if he rates her well. I’m not feeling the money burner Beachfront Bid so I will use them both on the top of the gimmicks.
6, Free Chickens: Stretches out today and less the winning efforts in her last two starts. Switches to the turf and her barn is winless with that move. Rosario jumps aboard and depending on her odds she may be a superfecta payout enhancer.
7, Gather the Facts: Knocked around repeatedly in her last and was probably discouraged. The Brown barn will attract a lot of attention and rightfully so. She raced well two starts back at 7 furlongs and just missed. If she runs like that today she can win. Chad Brown seems to know when to remove blinkers. She’s a threat with her best.
8, Lady Firefoot: She’s in a tough spot and she will need to beat 4 runners to finish in the superfecta. A tough spot for her.

      .50 cent pick 4 1-5 / 4 / 1A / 3-8
      Saratoga Race 3
1, Galerio: Moves into a new barn after giving up the lead late in her last at this distance. She comes off the freshening and hopefully the new barn didn’t tamper with her too much. She should be good enough to factor and possibly vie for the win.
1A, Gigging: Velazquez gets the nod to ride today and she may find this level too tough. Her speed figures are good but don’t match well with these. I’ll give her outside superfecta chances.
2, Alejandro: Ships in from Churchill and hasn’t missed the board since 2/21 at The Fairgrounds. If her late speed shows up in this race, she should be able to beat the majority of these to the wire with little effort
3, Shooger Ray Too: Didn’t do much in the $200K Birdstone going longer and I’m doubtful she will be a factor at this level and distance.
4, The Reds: Her last four starts were at this level and she’s been knocking on the door but no one’s answered. Not many in this race has run this distance as well as she has. Her last two works have been sharp and she may be ready to roll for the Saffie barn. She appears to be the best bet in this race.
5, Two Thirty Five: She didn’t get the best trip in her last and ran evenly. It did result in a place finish but well off the leader. She’s hit the board in 4 of her 7 starts at this level. This level should be tougher for her but I think she can rebound and run well enough to hit the board.
6, Bourbon Calling: Stretches back out to this distance where she has run twice and missed the board. She will need a slower pace than these will go to move into contention to finish in the money. She will surprise me if she hits the board.

      Saratoga Race 4
1, Transactional: First start out of the Brown barn and gets spotted in a short field that should help him in his attempt to hit the board. I think he may need a race or two but this group isn’t spectacular and he can make a trifecta bid.
1A, Indemify: Raced well in his debut going this distance at this level. Another Chad Brown runner to return in this race. He should be able to work out a stalking trip and has some late speed. If it shows he can loom late. Prat should know how to handle him. Contender.
2, Outperform: Moves up in class and switches surface. He enters todays fray with one average workout over grass. I think he has to improve to move forward.
3, Bali Riddim: His speed figures are improving with each start as long as the track is dry. He’ll need to get out the gate better to enhance his chance to win. The pace relief he gets in should help as well.
4, Whiskey Lullaby: Led and faded in his last at this distance. Hopefully that race tighten him up for today. Claimed, moves up and Velazquez rides. There’s no known speed entered so he can control the pace. Can win if others are dull.
5, Logan’s Runner: Debuts versus a field that should keep him off the board. This nicely bred colt should not hit the board unless the race falls apart.
6, Triumphant Road: Gets blinkers and moves over to dirt. After his last start its tough seeing him moving forward to challenge these.

      $1.00 pick three 1A / 3-8 / 9
      Saratoga Race 5
1, Nicholas James: Shows early speed but its usually depleted as he nears the finish line. Takes a class drop and if he goes to the lead may be able to hold on to hit the bottom of the board.
2, Hang Tight: Thistledown shipper runs for the first time as a gelding. He should be overmatched today. I’ll look to others.
3, Joey Loose Lips: Comes off a year long layoff and this barn doesn’t particularly have its runners ready to go off a break that long. In his last in an ungraded stakes race, he stopped. He’s working out nicely and if Carmouche judges him well, he should be the one the rest have to get past.
4, Inspiration Point: Broke his maiden in his last and now faces tougher. He usually runs well off the freshening. He tends to have issues getting out the gate and if that occurs today, he won’t be a factor. I’ll give him trifecta chances.
5, Perfect Silent Cat: It’s his first time at Saratoga and he seems to be handling the surface well during the mornings. His barn adds blinkers possibly to find more speed. Without it he will be an also ran.
6, Top of the Mint: Velaquez rides him well and gets him close to a win when he rides. Normally he’s on fumes as he hits deep stretch so if the pace doesn’t fall apart, he’s running for lessor purse money.
7, Eminency: Won his last and moves to face tougher. He seems to like this distance and needs a rated ride to last, He doesn’t seem to handle the Saratoga surface in the mornings If those numbers reflect how he’ll run, he’s running for minor rewards.
8, Got the Gold: Doesn’t seem to have the speed to win this his own. He needs any leader on the front to tire. He has a touch of late speed and if these do not come back to him, he’s running for minor rewards.

      Saratoga Race 6
1, Widmark: Bows from a low percentage barn and there’s not much to brag about for him. He’s going to have to beat me.
2, Secretary of War: Franco must ride him wisely to get him home first.
3, Master Sergeant: He last raced at Monmouth and raced in the middle of the pack. He stretches out for this start but must first show me he’s ready to go this distance effectively.
4, Thethrillofvictory: First time starter comes in and doesn’t look like he will make a lot of noise. The Maker barn might have him ready to compete for the bottom of the gimmicks
5, Liotta: He will need to take a big step forward to make an impact today but I don’t think he will be among the leaders as they hit the wire.
6, Let’s Go Big Blue: Weaver sends this two-year-old colt out and with his breeding he may run and threaten to finish in the bottom of the gimmicks. I believe he’s bred to go long on the turf with the Giant’s Causeway genes. I will use him underneath in the gimmicks.
7, Ulumalu: McPeek sends this one out and there’s not a lot get me interested in using him. I can’t endorse him using him.
8, El Quemado: He gets blinkers for this start after just running along in his last. He may be a little closer to the pace and not should still not threaten these. Rudy Rodriguez is not having the meet he’d like
9, Provision: He moves out to post position 9 and this will let him see any speed to his inside. Stalked and faded in his last so Saez must push the button at the right time to get him home first. There’re not many runners entered that appears to be able to keep pace. He’s clearly the one to beat on paper and this seems to be his to race to lose.
10, Barry the Builder: Showed nothing in his last start. He gets blinkers after regressing with each step in his last. He’s not for me today.

      Saratoga Race 7
1, Freedom Speaks: Ships up from Gulfstream and showed speed in her starts. Tries her third surface in three races. She won on the all-weather surface in Florida and now tries to win on grass. The relax pace this race should offer gives her a chance to hit the board despite the low percentage her connections have with its runners on turf.
2, American Starlet: The less then perfect start in her last may have cost her a better finish. She tired as she tried to close on the leaders. If she’s on or near the lead in the stretch, she’ll need something left when they enter deep stretch. She could boost gimmick payouts with her best.
3, Neon Summer: Something went wrong in her last start here. Uncertain how she will respond in her first start after that event. Maker must think she’s OK to put her back in competition, but I would like to see her run one first. Hopefully she doesn’t beat me.
4, American Heroine: Has yet to win running on turf. Gulfstream turf course still plays fast. Clement ships runners well and gives her a dose of Lasix after five months away from racing. She’ll need to be faster to win.
5, Crowding Out: Stalked leaders in her last and stopped the clock in fast 1:01. She may bounce off that effort and as she moves slightly up the class ladder. On the flip side if she can repeat that last effort, she’s a big threat. Trainer Chad Brown should have her ready and she’s hard to toss out of bets
6, Tuscan Queen: She failed to geta ground saving trip in her last and gave the lead up in deep stretch. She pulled that big effort out of the sky and should have a tough time repeating it. I think she’ll be at her best in her third start off the layoff and with a better trip should loom in the stretch.
7, Caironi: Trailed a couple of runners in her last that are entered today. She gets a slight break with a lack of capable runners going against her. Carmouche has ridden her for a win before but today she will be lucky to hit the board but something is telling to use her in the gimmicks.
8, A Little Faith: She’s been pretty reliable in her last several starts hitting the board in several of those starts. She’s rarely broke from a post position this far outside. Post position 8 may make it a bit tougher for her. She’s going to have to dig in and run her best to notch this win
9, Nay Say: She jumps way up in class and would appear to be very outmatched. Look back at her effort in September 21 at the $100K maiden level where she earned a show finish at this track. She doesn’t look like a strong contender to today but deep pocket bettor may want to toss her in the superfecta wagers on a whim.
10, Osiria: She gets blinkers for this start after leading the field for half the race they backing out of it. Should improve in her second off the layoff for Clement. Post position 10 makes a win harder but if she can move forward off her last start she should be able to stick around to hit the board.

1, Army Wife: She seems to run well at this distance and has only missed the board once in 4 tries at a mile and an eighth earning two wins. She’s faced tough competition her entire career. Took the field a long way in the G1 Alabama stakes at Saratoga last year. I think she’ll need a near perfect ride under Gaffalione to win. Major player today,
2, Misty Veil: She hasn’t raced this long or at this track in a while. She may show early speed that could affect the pace and outcome if she can run on. She’ll probably end up spitting the bit in mid-stretch at this level and distance.
3, Envoutante: Didn’t run to her odds in the G1 Beholder stakes at Santa Anita. I might try to blame the track surface for that performance. She’s back east and training well. She should be fresh off the five month break. The key to her is if she has anything left in the tank in the stretch.
4, Leader of the Band: She’s never gone this distance before. She needs a hot pace in front of her and if she can rate, she’ll need Rosario to see it and hold her off the pace. Her late speed can make her a danger at possibly long odd. Things could get interesting if that happens and there is enough speed entered for it to happen. Hmmm.
5, First to Act: Overcame some small issues at the gate in her last two starts. She now moves up in class and her speed figures are improving. She’ll probably race a little further back then usual at this distance. If she can get past stragglers and strugglers cleanly in the stretch, she has superfecta chances under Irad Ortiz.
6, Exotic West: She’s in a bit of a dilemma. An average pace keeps her out of contention while a slower pace will allow her and several other runners a chance to win. I don’t think she’s any kind of threat today.
7, Bonny South: Her back class should see her run well enough to finish in the money for Brad Cox. She shows occasional late foot I believe she will need these to back up to her to raise her odds of winning. She is a contender for minor rewards in this short field.

1, Fish Mooney: Got knocked around a bit in the start of her last but ran on to claim a place spot. Moves up slightly in class for today’s event and may need to do a bit more the be victorious. She hasn’t won a race since January of this year and I would like to see her in the post parade before dismissing or using her.
2, Radiant Gem: She suffered all kinds of troubles in her last start and finished well off the leaders. She eked out two wins at this distance before that start. Velaquez remains in the irons and I think she earns a “redo” off that last start. I’ll try to outsmart other betters and use her on top.
3, Hatari: She pulled away late in her last start to notch the victory. She should get the same pace scenario in this start as she did on her last. If she is sharper in her second off the layoff could notch back to back victories today despite the class hike.
4, Vintage Girl: Just raced mid pack in her last and was not much of a threat. Although had a slight brush at the gate its no excuse for her performance. I think we see the same today racing for a struggling Rudy Rodriguez barn.
5, Rosemary Potatoes: I recall her being well hyped for her last start and promptly threw in a clunker. I’m not sure how she will do today but I don’t predict a winning effort from her.
6, Diva Ready: She moves up the class ladder after chasing the leader in her last but coming up short. With a better ride from Franco she could give the struggling Rodriguez barn their second win at the Saratoga meet. I think we see a sharper runner today who with tracking trip as well as a well timed late run could see her looming late.
7, Mirth ‘n Merriment: She shows speed and carries it on to win or she fades. Carmouche will put her out there and play catch me if you can. I think they will catch her. She can set the race up for others. Who will run with her? Who will track the pace? Will they let her run alone and get loose on the lead? While I don’t think she will win, I think she is the key to the race.
8, Judge Judith: She should be outclassed today and faces a tough task. If she runs with the leaders will be done early or stay off the pace and not able to catch up. I can’t endorse her. She needs a lot of luck to win.

1, Jeremy’s Jet: His last on turf saw him regress in the stretch. The low percentage barn needs to figure this runner out if they want him to win.
2, Fadethenoise: Michael Maker tabs Flavien Prat to ride and they need to get a bit more speed from him. Two back versus tougher he finished well up the track. Switched over to grass and showed speed. Faces tougher again and will need to repeat his last to have a chance to win. Inside post position helps if he can find more speed
3, Oxymore: Pulled away from the field in his last at Belmont after enjoying a soft lead. Started to turn on the jets at the ½ mile pole and never looked back, Starts for Chad Brown today and he has his runners ready to return to the races. If he gets a clean break and clear path, he should be a threat in this bunch.
4, No Nay Hudson: Switches to turf after literally being knock out of contention early. He fought back to get within a one length of the leader but tired. His third start off the layoff should see him at his best but I don’t think it will be good enough to threaten for the win.
5, Private Creed: Won at first asking at Ellis Park, He did have a ho hum work out here at Saratoga. Based on his Grandsires he’s bred for speed and turf. He should improve today but I won’t use him to win and will watch him to see what he does.
6, Noble Huntsman: Won his debut in a slower time and caught a break when the favorite had major road woes. Nobody went with him as they entered into the turn and didn’t improve the gap between the rest as he headed home. If he can’t find more late, he could get left behind in the stretch.
7, Prove Right: He simply doesn’t have the speed to outrun these.
8, Appraise: Won his debut after tracking the leaders and making a closing move as they entered the stretch. He got lucky when a closing rival got right next to him but hung in the stretch. He may not get the fast early splits of that race and if he gets to the lead but can get ran down. Franco must be mistake free.
9, Bourbon Therapy: Should be outclassed and outran in this race. He’ll have to beat me.
10, Cadillac Candy: He ships in from Churchill Downs and moves up in class. It took him almost the entire stretch to get past the leader. He got the head bob to earn the win. He’s going to have to hope the pace isn’t solid and the predicted leaders get things their way. That race seemed faster than the time posted and I’m not sure what the run-up time for Churchill is.

1, Clubhouse: Pletcher sends out this son of Speightstown whose been working out somewhat blandly. I will only watch him today.
1A, Bat Flip: No Bets if Off the Turf
2, Wico: Went off as the favorite in his last but failed to win. Needs to improve in his second lifetime start off the break. I would use him underneath
3, Alibi Ike: Another Ward trained runner starting in this race. His training sessions over the turf course isn’t impressive and perhaps a better start sees him move forward. In this short field I will use him in the trifecta
4, Alexis Zorba: Ships in from Ireland and raced well over a giving turf condition. If he adapts to American style of racing, he may contend for a top three finish
5, Dataman: He’s been training nicely topping most of the other morning runners. The Motion barn usually doesn’t have them ready to win in their first start. I, personally, like his breeding just enough to use him in the trifecta and lower
6, Appraise: Some decent workouts at Monmouth and the Chad Brown barn has a decent record with over half its runners hitting the board early in this meet. In this field of mostly untested runner there’s no reason to think he won’t hit the board
7, Inflation Nation: There’s not a lot to get excited about for him unless you are a Clement fan. Clement’s stats and his breeding says to use him in the gimmicks.

1, Indemnify: First time starter bows from the Chad Brown barn who does well with his first-time turf runner. Unless he proves to be a much better runner then he appears on paper I think he misses hitting the board.
1A, Growth Capital: He appears to get faster with each outing but fails to carry it to the wire. He’s failed as the race favorite in all his three starts. Brown seems to know when to remove blinkers and if this give Irad Ortiz a bit more control; I believe he’s the one to beat and hopefully not as the favorite.
2, Clubbing: Raced wide om a muddy surface in his first start ever. He should b=get better conditions to run today. He’s sort of in the d=same boat that 3, The Prince’s Spur is in. He should move forward as well if this stays on the grass but how much better will he be is the question.
3, The Prince’s Spur: Outperformed 1, Clubbing in their last while running close to the leaders. He failed to keep pace and held on for show. I believe he moves forward in his second start
4, Impulsiveness: He will have to get a lot better
5, Capital Velocity: His last two works were shar and he may like this distance which could off a more relaxed pace. He switches to grass and his seemingly lack of late speed should keep him off the board.
6, Oglethorpe: He finished comfortably ahead of two other runners in this race. He should be well rested off that outing and I hope he doesn’t bounce today. If he gets a better start and avoids traffic this low percentage barn has every chance to come out a winner

1A, Mount Travers: He should struggle to do more than a superfecta run even against the field of plodders
1, Pioneer Spirit: Came up short off the layoff after stalking the pace. He takes a class drop and even in this group of slower runners will need to show more. If he can return to the sharper form he had at Aqueduct, he’s a contender to hit the board.
2, Hammerin Aamer: Tossed a clunker in his first race off the layoff and took a lot of money with him. Hs record at Saratoga is dismal with no wins in 8 tries. He raced with no pace and was beaten by several runners entered in this race. He missed the board be several lengths. This pace stalker has just enough late speed to remain in contention and if there is any improvement today this 4-year-old son of Orb could hit the board for Linda Rice.
3, Claytnthelionheart: His record at Saratoga is surprisingly good but since his starts at Churchill his efforts have been subpar. His form is improving and could surprise today but I can’t see his condition being sharp being enough to outrun most of these to get to the wire first.
4, Long Term Thinking: Soundly defeated versus cheaper a week ago here. I believe this level should be too tough for him. I doubt he wins and needs to improve to be a part of this.
5, Amount: Finished off the leaders after an even paced try in his last at Belmont and couldn’t keep up when the leader pulled away, No excuses for him in that race. Irad Ortiz returns who rode him to 3 of his 4 lifetime wins. His last work out over the Saratoga surface could indicate he’s ready to run, however I’m not sure which runner will show up. Ill use him just in case.
6, Lastchanceatglory: He will probably be on the lead or near to it when the gates pop open. The downside is the track bias favor closers, so he’ll probably get passed by in deep stretch since he has no late speed. On the plus side his barn wins at a 27% rate with runners off the claim, he’s cutting back in distance and the switch to Rosario who will dictate his finish. He can be used in the bottom of the gimmicks.
7, American Rule: Help set the pace in his last but was passed by a fast closing winner and most of the rest of the field. His early speed will need to be used wisely Luckily there is no runner entered with a ton of late speed. He may be able to outrun these to the wire. He’s an interesting entry in this race.

      3. Miss Bonnie T: She gets blinkers in her return to racing She could run well enough in her first start to finish in the money. She’s never won a race in 12 lifetime start and doesn’t look like she will win today.
4, Whiskey Lullaby: Raced evenly in her last start and managed to hit the board
5, Candlestick Maker: I think she can improve in her third lifetime start. She has no speed but with firmer turf conditions she may be able to finish in the superfecta if she gets lucky.
6, Regina:She will have to do better to be apart of this.
7, I’m Glad: She should be no threat to these.
8, Beachfront Bid: Big time money burner may have been able to win her last but got knocked around a few times in mid-stretch. 1, Chess’s Dream: At this level he can be competitive. He’ll need to have others make pace mistakes to heighten his chance to win. I don’t look for him to win but I do expect him to be stronger in his second start off the layoff to compete for minor rewards.
1A, Voliero: He like this distance and own a decent record when running it. While he doesn’t perform well at this track and no late pace and even with the class break I’m still iffy on using him in the superfecta
2, Barnegat Light: If the runner I think will run as expected he will not win. Moves back to turf and was outrun at Woodbine. The turf efforts at Gulfstream are misleading since that turf produces faster times. He should struggle to hit the board today.
3, Spectatorless: He won’t be able to compete with these.
4, Bricco: His speed figures do not rate with the better runners entered but the final times of his events combined with the slightly shorter distance puts him in with a trifecta chance
5, Prayer Book: Moves up in class and probably won’t have to face a fast pace. He moves up in class and this should keep him off the board
6, Our Country: He gets a touch of class relief and owns a decent record racing at Saratoga, He doesn’t need a fast pace to run into so that can help him hit the board Prat returns so he may know him a little better. I don’t see a win from him today but can use him in exotic wagers.
7, Girl Dad: Rosario should hold him off the pace today to increase his chance to finish in the money. If he takes a move forward his chances to be involved in the gimmicks are good
8, Future Victory: He lost his last two start at Monmouth by narrow margins. I think he should be placed in a trip stalking position with his late speed. He runs with no blinkers in this start and if this gives Ortiz more control, he should be tough to beat. I’m putting my money on him.
9, Sonic Speed: He will need these to come back to him and if they don’t, he’s running for the trifecta at best
10, Gussy Mac: He isn’t a threat to win and was a defeated favorite against much softer at Delaware Park. He’s been facing some speedy rivals and while not winning usually finished within reach of the top three. He should be able to outrun enough of these to compete for an in the money.

1, Ria’s Angel: Drops down in class and will not win but can run for minor rewards with his best against this less then stellar field.
2, Southern Civility: Stretches out, drops in class, adding of blinkers but has declining speed figures. All these factors should still see him miss hitting the board.
3, Tuesday’s Child: It may not take much to win this race and he doesn’t have much. The bug will need to rate him to get him home first. A smart ride and not a fast one will win this race for him. He has every chance to win today.
4, Slow Decision: Moves over to dirt and this barn has a low win percentage doing so. He cuts back a notch and should improve a bit in his second lifetime start. Ortiz should pull some dollars his way Could press any runner on the lead and get past him for a chance to win.
5, Clingman: Has to get better to factor but two races back he may have been able to hit the board with that effort. Could be a superfecta runner today.
      6, Tyrannosaurus Rex: Nope
7, Makart: Showed some late speed in his last start at Belmont. Set down for the drive but seem to hang, he recovered to claim the place position. He was also bothered a few times early and with a cleaner run should hit the board
8, Lucky Mucho Man: Faced slow runners and raced evenly to garner a third-place finish. Only this group can offer him a chance to hit the board
9, Datesfreedom: Even at this level and group of so-so runners he will miss hitting the board if the race goes as I think it should.

1, Keepmeinmind: Former derby contender should be the over whelming favorite in this race, He’s been off for 10 months but has been training well. Pletcher wouldn’t have entered him today if he didn’t think his chances to win were right, He seems to have been spotted in an “easy” bunch.
2, Prince of Pharoahs: His lone attempt at this level didn’t fare well and he missed the board. He doesn’t have the late speed to keep up with this group.
3, Skylander: Makes the move over to dirt and Mott doesn’t do that great with the turf to dirt move. I think he struggles to hit the board today
4, Naval Aviator: I like his chances to factor if he can run about mid pack and make his move using his late run at the right time. It seems he will need dry track conditions to run his best. Both times he missed the board was over an off track.
5, Complete Agenda: Lost touch of the field as they entered the stretch n the G3 Peter Pan. He doesn’t run well enough to be a threat here,
6, Tiwanaku: Moves way up in class to try and beat tougher rivals. In his last he led the field gate to wire but at this distance that’s going to be a stretch. Amoss has a choice to make with him. Either go to the lead and hope the field lets him set the pace or track the pace and hope my projected winner 1, Keepmeinmind, comes up short off the long layoff. I can only hope he hits the board.
7, Efficiency: At this distance his best bet would be to come from off the pace and hope any runner in front of him comes back to him. Chad Brown will draw some betting dollars his way and I think he’s got the best chance to win if 1, Keepmeinmind doesn’t run well
8, Fighter in the Win: Missed a win in his last by ¾ of a length in his first start off the layoff. Overseas he performed decently running over all weather surfaces. He switches track surfaces again and this second Chad Brown entry will try to pick up a minor check.

      Saratoga OC 45000n2x 5½ Furlongs (T) 3&up, F & M Friday, July 22, 2022 Race 8
1, Makin My Move: Cuts back and this distance may be too short for her as she moves up in class. I think her speed figures rate with the better runners in this race. Ortiz will need to rate her almost perfectly to give her a chance to cross under the wire first. I think she can win but will use her underneath.
2, Get the Candy: Will lead the way early and could last longer than expected with the turn back in distance. The Maker barn improves its runners slightly in the 3rd start off layoffs. If she can improve, she can grab some smaller purse money
3, Kokopelli: She’s training nicely and before the layoff showed the willingness to win. Now she returns after a year’s absence and there doesn’t seem to be a lot to beat so she can run for minor rewards if Clemente has her ready
4, Big Q: she should be at her best in her third start off the claim. Her speed may need to improve as she tries grass for the first time. She’s had difficulties at this level and I’m pretty sure she won’t win but can run for the trifecta with an honest effort.
5, Palace Gossip: There seems to be a possible speed duel in the making between her and 9, Quality Stones. This must be avoided if she wants to notch the win. In 6 turf starts she’s only missed the board once and that was over less then firm turf conditions. She’s a candidate to win but Prat must ride smartly.
6, Sassy Melissa: She’s run this distance well here about a year ago ending up and a win and show finish. She gets an in the money finish each time Ortiz is in the irons. If she comes off the freshening ready to run, she’s a big threat to win at this level
7, Byhubbyhellomoney: Returns to racing after a 4-month hiatus. Her barn hasn’t failed with the runners it sent out after 90+ days off, removing blinkers from its runners and switching from dirt to turf, Cancel hasn’t done much riding here but has a outside chance with her for the superfecta
8, Jill’s a Hot Mess: Raced well at the Spa last year for Linda Rice. Anytime she broke from post position 6 and out, she ran poorly. On the flip side she’s won both her outings here. I think she finds enough rivals that can run better than she can right now.
9, Quality Stones: Once the gates pop open she will be vying for the lead The weight allowance she gets under Gomez could help. She’s only had won turf start where she missed the board. To win I think she’ll have to go gate to wire and that could prove hard.
11, Itsakeyper: Doesn’t have the speed to keep pace especially from post position 10

      Saratoga Lake George-G3 1 Mile (t) 3yo Fillies Friday, July 22, 2022 Race 9
1, Republique: Makes the switch to turf and stays in graded stakes company. If the ability she showed on the all-weather surface comes through on turf she may contend for smaller purse money.
2, Heavenly Hellos: Her lone start in a graded stakes she finished well off the leaders. Her lack of speed and the low percentage jockey and barn dictates I look else where for a winner.
3, Al Qahira: Stalked the pace and broke her maiden in her last start going longer at Churchill Downs. Never off the board in her three turf starts The Mott barns usually has its runner prepare to run well off breaks A smart ride from Jose Ortiz keeps her in the hunt for minor rewards.
4, Koala Princess: She hasn’t been entered in a race since running in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile fillies turf. If she’s prepared to run well of that 8-month rest, she could challenge for a top three finish
5, Dolce Zel: She has the graded stakes races experience but her final times in her races don’t look strong enough to put her on top
6, Eminent Victor: Shows good speed on turf and retains Prat. Took a bad step at the top of the stretch but held on to win the Wild Applause gamely after letting others cut the mile. It’s doubtful she gets the same splits in this race but this lightly raced filly could improve and if that occurs she will be tough to beat
7, Sister Lou Ann: Not enough speed to win.
8, Skims: She should be able to outrun the weaker ones entered today. If there is overnight rain and the turf is softer this can help her move forward to hit the board. She’ll need a lot of luck to win.
9, Spirit And Glory: She can show enough late speed to move into the superfecta if the pace suits her. If not, she misses the board.

1, Captivating Cara: She’s to slow to run for a top three finish unless the pace falls completely apart.
1A, Caramocha: She hasn’t raced since December of 2021 and her barn doesn’t prepare its runners well when coming off layoffs. The low percentage jock doesn’t help either.
2, Queen Arella: Ships in from Finger Lakes and shows speed, perhaps cheap speed, but shows speed nonetheless. This level should be enough to keep her off the board
2B, True Empress: She doesn’t have the speed to run for the win
3, Gringotts: She just ran with the pack in her last two starts with no forward movement. The reduced distance could help her move forward to vie for the lower half of the exotics. She’ll need to do more to be a bigger contend at this level.
4, Cinderella’s Cause: Ships in from Finger Lakes and may run better then she appears on paper. In the fall of 2021, she ran well at this distance. She wont win but could add value to the superfecta
5, Silver Fist: She’s not for me.
6, Fancy Feline: Adds blinkers today and perhaps her barn thinks she’s not focused while running. Ill see what they do for her.
7, Leeloo: She’ll be on the early lead but has a habit of good race/bad race. She doesn’t have the talent to win but could stick around for minor rewards.
8, Let Her Inspire U: She’s training well and jumps up in class. Velaquez will need to rate her just a bit to keep her chance to win good. If she improves in her second off the layoff could be a threat
9, Liberty Flame: Didn’t take to the grass in her last and her connections return her to dirt. She’s been working out nicely but this level could prove to much for her to win. Her speed figure my rebound with the return to dirt and can factor in the bottom of the gimmicks.
10, Ready A. P.: She shows adequate speed but must be taken off the early pace. Post position 11 may hurt her chances. If she’s allowed to go to the lead, she may not be able to take it the 6 furlongs. I don’t see many that can run past her to keep her off the board if she brings her best effort. Can surprise and win but best used underneath.
11, Hannah Dances: Comes off a 5-month layoff and her form shouldn’t be good enough to allow her to run with these.
12, Kiss Me Smile: Ran well versus cheaper and should be outrun today.

      Belmont Park Allowance 80000n1x 6 Furlongs 3&up Race 1
1 Vincent: Moves into allowance class racing and doesn’t appear to have the speed to beat these.
2 Quickflash: Caught a break and doesn’t have to face experienced runners AND winners at this level. He won’t win today without some luck but if this 1-22 runners “early speed” can be controlled, he has all the chances in the world to finish in the trifecta
3 My Last Mission: If he goes with the early paces, he’s going to end up with rubbery legs as they enter the stretch, Best I can see him is as a superfecta contender.
4 Safalow’s Mission: Broke his maiden in his last start and if he can improve in his third off the layoff will compete for minor rewards. If you throw out that race in December at Aqueduct when he runs on dirt, he’s been picking up checks. I think he can do the same today. I’ll use him in the tri or the super.
5 Big Castle: Jumps up in class and at this distance should be easily outran. He’ll have to beat me.
6 Tap’n de Bank: Attained a win in his last start and celebrates by being entered in a field that lacks a lot of talent. If he doesn’t bounce off his last Velazquez should be able to pilot him into contention for a win. If he tries to fight for the lead he could tire and give it up in the stretch. A smart ride makes him a major player
7 Win for Gold: Should get an energy saving trip by tracking leaders and making a move at the right time. Carmouche should know this horse and the reduced distance should be in his favor. He could make things interesting in the stretch if his speed figures progress.
8 Unique Unions: He’s gets Lasix and faces a softer field. He like so many others entered today won’t run away from the pack but will need to be tactical throughout this race. Franco can’t panic as they enter the stretch. This distance may be what he wants

1 Power Agenda: Faltered versus similar in his last running over the sod. Today the Pletcher barn stretches him out and puts him back on dirt in his second off the layoff. He could be the rabbit for his stable mate 1A Bright Future
1A Bright Future: Pulled away from foes to win as first asking. There’s not a bunch of runners entered here that can match his effort and he should be well rested in his return. His barn has runners well prepared to repeat or come close to their last performance. You almost have to use him again in this field.
2 Uncle Moonlight: It seems we’ve seen the best this colt can do for now. This level should be too tough for him even with most of the entries jumping up in class as well. A big effort with his late foot can see him vie for the bottom of the gimmicks
3 Set Sail: Chased leaders in the G3-Peter Pan but tired badly in deep stretch. He knocks off a furlong and faces hopefully easier foes. Burning money as the post time favorite could be an eye raising trend with him. The class relief he gets today can help him vie for minor rewards if he can get a hold of this deep sandy surface
4 Strong Quality: He’s helped set the pace in his last two starts but has kept the lead once. His speed figures have improved with each outing. Now with Ortiz in the irons I think can improve him as well It wouldn’t surprise me to see him win Coming from the slower Fair Grounds surface, I think he improves today.
5 Good Culture: There enough better runners to keep him off the board.
6 Three Jokers: Faced similar in his last and just missed the win going slightly longer. He does like running at Belmont but just doesn’t win I don’t think I will bet on him bucking his tread of a slight regress in his second starts off layoffs. I won’t use him to win but I think he factors in the gimmicks with a solid run.
7 Alado: He’s never won running over dirt and even this group of runners should prove too tough.
8 Higher Quality: Comes in from Aqueduct after a gate to wire win. That effort was better than it looks on paper and it look like he had more. I don’t think the extra panel will be a big hurdle if Frano handles him well. The move up here shouldn’t prove too difficult if he reproduces his last effort. I like his chances in this field

1 Dream Lith: Shouldn’t be fast enough to be considered a threat
2 Inventing: Faced graded stake rivals and has shown good speed in her first two starts. Can’t seem to get her head past the winner I think she can outrun her odds today and finish in the trifecta with an honest effort,
3 Divine Huntress: It appears she won’t be able to get it some if the field runs as expected. She turns back the distance and this even paced runner will need to find more.
4 Matareya: Stalked strong fractions set by Pretty Birdie. Didn’t run past that rival as strongly as I would have like. Prat will have to decide to either set the pace or stalk possible leader 5, Echo Zulu. It’s a tough choice but I think she has a chance to win
5 Echo Zulu: Cuts back after a disappointing effort in the Kentucky Oaks where she battled 42-1 longshot Yuugiri for the lead. This softened her up for others as she got a bit fatigued in mid-stretch over less than ideal conditions for her. She cuts back to a mile and should be the one to cut the mile. They’re going to have to run her down and that may occur.

1 Leggs Galore: She will keep the pace honest if she makes the lead. She tries the Belmont turf and maker things interesting if allowed to set a pace she wants. I think she will get pushed faster then she wants to go and faded in the stretch
2 Regal Glory: Tracked the pace setter in The G1 Jenny Wiley and when asked responded well and held off post time favorite for the win. She may have company on the front end with 1 Leggs Galore but can’t hook up in a senseless duel. She seems to have tactical speed as well as late speed. There’s not a lot to beat entered but I don’t think a win will be easy.
3 Speak of the Devil: Settled in the back of the pack and asked to move before the stretch turn and never looked back beating a short field. I am no good at reading Timeform for European races so I will just say she’ll probably get splits to run after today and if she turns on the jets like she did in the Churchill Distaff this race is her to win
4 In Italian: Broke out the gate to lead in the Churchill Distaff and seemed surprised when 3 Speak of the Devil came out of nowhere to thunder on by. She couldn’t regroup and the races was lost by mid-stretch. This will not happen again and I’m sure Ortiz will be looking for her as they head to the wire. I think she won’t win but hits the board

1: Lone Rock: He’s lost just once in 6 tries at this distance. He’ll be winging it from the lead and if allowed to control the pace will be out front as they near the wire. He’s a winning machine and rarely has been challenged at this distance. He’s clearly the one to beat and it’s tough to exclude him.
2 Max Player: He hasn’t been the same since that disappointing finish on the Breeders’ Cup Classic. He may appreciate the longer distance in this race and the smaller field can help him hit the board with an honest effort.
3 Warrant: His race is predicated on how Prat handles him early. His last race was the first time he missed the board in 10 starts. He will have a tough time getting past 1, Lone Rock to win but can run for smaller rewards.
4 Portos: Runs against tougher than he’s faces in quite a while. I can’t see him winning and has already lost to a few runners entered in this race by several lengths.
5 First Constitution: He will press the pace or be pressed. Either way he will more than likely be among the early leaders. Lezcano will have to rate him almost perfectly to see him get the extra panels. These graded stakes runner should prove tougher than the ones he beat in South America. I think he hits the board with a smart ride.
6 Locally Owned: These should prove too tough for him to conquer. Like the rest he’s running for minor rewards at best.
7 Fearless: Saez returns to the saddle and Pletcher does nicely bringing runners off layoffs. I’ll blame the Oaklawn surface for his last finish and I think he can rebound here to threaten for the win

1 Jack Christopher: He appeared to feel great in his last start by tugging a statue like Ortiz into tracking the pace. When asked he moved forward with little prodding to win easily. He’s training well at Belmont and seems to run well here.
2 Pappacap: Jump to the lead in the Pat Day mile but when headed by 1 Jack Christopher had nothing left and just held on for show. Cuts back a panel and this could help him hit the board. He isn’t a big win threat throughout his career and today should be no different.
3 Wit: He’s been facing graded stakes runners his whole career but hasn’t beat any runner of worth, in my opinion He finished over 9 lengths off 1 Jack Christopher in the 2021 Champaign on this surface. His lack of late speed should keep him from winning.
4 Morello: I’d toss the Wood effort after hitting the gate he was done it seems. He was riding a three race win streak and was the favorite. That’s in the past but I don’t think he has regained enough form to win.
5 Chasing Time: He’s going to be chasing the field today. I’ll pass on using him.
6 Provocateur: Moves up in class and stretches out he’s a stronger runner then the first time he tried running here. He is running for a trifecta spot at best.

1 Letruska: “Catch me if you can” is her motto and it’s worked out well for her. It’s just her third after the hellish finish in the Breeders Cup Distaff. There’s not much reason to go against her and until she shows a flaw that shows her vulnerabilities, she’s the one to beat to me.
2 Bonny South: She chased 1 Letruska in this race in 2021 and the same story should play out today. She has to worry about other runners keeping her off out of the money.
3 Malathaat: Enters today’s fray and will try to run down 1 Letruska. I don’t think she has the late foot to run past for the win but can fend off others for major purse money.
4 Clairiere: Outperformed 1 Letruska in the Breeders’ Cup distaff at Del Mar. That was her lifetime best and I can’t see her doing much better than that in just her second start of 2022. Her biggest threat will come from 3 Malathaat & 5 Search Results for 2nd and 3rd. Her late speed should get her up in the money.
5 Search Results: If she tries to chase the early pace she may fade out of contention. Her best effort seems like it’s a tracking trip and hope for the leader to come back to her. Her late speed disappeared in her last two start and she’s going to need it to be a factor today

      Belmont Park Jaipur-G1 6 Furlongs (T) Race 8
1 Change of Control: She takes on the boys and tacks on an extra half furlong to boot. She hasn’t face graded company in over 8 months for some reason. She still has the speed to be competitive, but it looks like this race will have to be handed to her. The rail can help her finish in the money against the boys if she can improve her third off the layoff
      2 Omaha City: Not today
3 True Valour: He seems to be a better sprinter then router. He came back and tossed the Dubai curse aside with a win in his last start coming off a long, long 11-month hiatus. His speed figures say he’s a viable runner, but the class level says wait a minute. There are only a few legitimate runners with the early speed to push him from the gate. Tough to totally dismiss from the gimmicks
4 Casa Creed: He returns from a trip to Meydan where he just chased leaders to the wire. His last win came in this race last year. This race could be viewed as if he’s getting some class relief in this field and his results over the Belmont turf puts him in the mix.
5 Arrest Me Red: He’s only lost once in his last 5 starts and showed good speed in them all. When he sprints on grass, he’s a monster and retaining Ortiz doesn’t hurt. He won’t be a runaway winner race and I don’t see a valid reason to dismiss this Ward runner. I think he is a major player here.
6 Greyes Creek: Sprinting may not be his bailiwick and it’s difficult to see him outrun this group.
7 Whatmakessammyrun: I don’t think Sammy will run well today against these at this distance.
8 Scuttlebuzz: There’s no question he has speed. Faces graded stakes runners for the first time. He runs well on this surface. A repeat of his past turf sprints efforts tags him as the one to beat. Rodriguez usually his runners cranked and ready to go in their 2nd start off the layoff, but he does poorly versus graded stakes runners. Still, he could surprise and will roll the dice with him
9 Filo Di Arianna: Sorry I must pass on this one.
10 Smokin’ Jay: He’s not fast enough to use with any confidence especially if the ones I think can run show up
11 Chasing Artie: Didn’t show up at all in his last at the Turf Sprint at Churchill. This level should help keep him off the board
12 Gear Jockey: Breaks from post position 12 and add an additional half furlong. His back class might give him a trifecta chance but with all the speed to his inside he needs some luck and a clear path in the stretch. The return of Lezcano can help him hit the board but I think his post position hinders his chance to win
13 Gregorian Chant: He’s a victim of the draw as well not to mention the class he’s facing. He usually doesn’t start well and that could be what keeps him out of the money. If he had a better post position, I’d might be more inclined to use him.

Belmont Park Metropolitan Handicap -G1 1 Mile 3&up Race 9
1 Flightline: He’s been destroying his competition in California and now comes east and tries the deeper Belmont track and this may slow him up a bit. He hasn’t raced since December. His barn does OK returning runners off long layoffs I don’t think he routs this field like he did his rivals out west.
2 Speaker’s Corner: He comes in well rested for this event. This looks like a two-horse race at first glance. They could battle each other into submission if they hook up and go crazy. I think he may have a slight advantage over 1 Flightline since he’s raced at Belmont before. This race is in the jockeys’ hands and whoever makes the bigger mistake will probably lose.
3 Aloha West: Had a tune up in the Churchill Down Stakes and kind of just loped along hugging the rail. That effort will not put him with a chance to win if the top two runners are sharp. He’s running for trifecta unless something strange happens upfront.
4 Happy Saver: Even with modest fractions he had nothing left in the Alysheba as the field headed for him. He must show more today or very well may end up an also ran. He doesn’t have the experience of the top two runners and that will keep him in the bottom of the gimmicks

1 L’Imperator: Won the Fort Marcy in an almost unimpressive gate to wire fashion over soft turf. He probably won’t get that lucky today. He hasn’t raced this distance in quite a while but has never lost when he has. If this group run splits faster than average, it may be more then he can handle. Facing top level graded company will prove too tough without some luck.
2 Gufo: Veteran stakes runner is still chugging along. The wide trip from the turn may have cost him enough ground and the win in the Man O War. So don’t hold that race against him too much. It took some urging to finally get hm in gear as well so Rosario will have to get him rolling at the right time. He’s hit the board all three times he’s run this distance and I think he can still finish in the money
3 Tokyo Gold: European invader may have a difficult task ahead of him. I believe he may prefer softer turf conditions so firm turf could see him finish off the leaders. If the turf isn’t firm for this race, I’d probably use him in the trifecta
4 Adhamo: I like his effort at Fair Grounds grass when he came home in a big way and just missed the win. That’s not the fastest grass to run over and he did have a very wide trip. If he gets a cleaner run home, he could raise some eyebrows.
5 In Love: When facing this level of competition, he hasn’t been successful. He could enjoy the added distance today and use what late speed he has to gain on leaders. Whiles he’s not a threat to win, he can figure in the bottom of the gimmicks if things break his way
6 Rockemperor: Just didn’t look comfortable in the Fort Marcy stakes and was unable to keep up with eventual winner 1 L’Imperatorover over yielding turf conditions. I think this level of racing should regulate him off the board if he doesn’t get his form back in a big way.
7 Tribhuvanen: He’s going to help set the early pace and then have a hard time maintaining it as they head for home. Last year may have been when he did his best running. Hard to predict which runner will show up. If he’s on the engine he won’t win but if he comes from off the pace may figure in the exotic wagers.
8 Highland Chief: Got a big break winning the Man O War at long odd when he stalked an easy pace and then turned away a hard closing 2 Gufo who had a wide trip in the stretch turn. Things won’t go his way like that today and I think the runners to his outside will keep him from winning.
9 Santin: Tracked the pace setter in the Turf classic at Churchill and fought off game rival Mira Mission. Took the same tracing trip in the Muniz Memorial. I think he stays in form and stalks the leaders and I like runners coming off Churchill and Fair Ground turf course. I look for improvement today and will use him on top.
10 Channel Maker: Time may be catching up to this 8-year-old multi-millionaire. I think he keeps the pace honest and if they let him slow it down can find out it allows some crazy things to happen. Although he doesn’t win at this distance he can still figure and affect the outcome if he’s taken lightly

1, We the People: Has the speed to go gate to wire but will need to be rated. If other don’t push him could race away at the top of the stretch. His barn may be in over their head. I think he’s a viable threat If he’s not washed out as he was before the Arkansas Derby. Contender
2, Skippylongstocking: He hasn’t shown the speed needed to beat these and could be in against others that are a tad tough to factor.
3, Nest: Pletcher enters a filly to tackle the fellas. Had some bad luck when she was asked but had to slow up behind the leaders in the Kentucky Oaks and that killed her late run. A better trip and she should move forward late to figure in the bottom.
4, Rich Strike: Took full advantage of the pace in the Kentucky Derby to come freely along the rail and snatch the win. The field will be looking for him as well as planning the race around him. He’s been blazing his work outs but if he doesn’t get the pace, he may come up short. I’m not willing to hand him the victory.
5, Creative Minister: Raced mild manneredly for most of the race but couldn’t fend off late charges from some of the Preakness field. I can’t explain what really happened but if leaders do not come back to him, he’s running for minor rewards
6, Mo Donegal: He didn’t get the best trip in the Derby where he had to go about 10 wide off the turn then forced back in but still managed to finish a respectable 5th place. The smaller field should offer less traffic woes. A fast pace moves him forward. Watch for track bias to use or dismiss him.
7, Golden Glider: He isn’t going to draw a lot of attention in this race, and this isn’t shocking. It’s tough to see him doing anything more than a superfecta effort.
8, Barber Road: Took a winding rout toward the wire in the Deby and suffered by racing the widest in the turn him. It’s doubtful he’ll get the fractions they ran in the Derby today. He doffs the hood, but this almost forgotten derby runner doesn’t excite me enough to use him.

6 Drakon: He hasn’t raced in over 6 months and he’s working out well and gets a dose of Lasix. He moves over to turf and perhaps his Giants Causeway genes can kick in.
7 Floki’s Flight: Rodriguez puts the blinkers on and moves him to turf. He had some road troubles in his last and that could have cost him the win. His speed figures are improving, and he doesn’t have to beat many other runners to win.
8 Al’s Rocket: He’s fallen off from his promising start where he finished among leaders. After chasing normal splits spit the bit in a big way finishing more than 15 lengths off the winner. He’ll face a group of mostly softer runners and should help his confidence. Pletcher tabs Ortiz to ride today and let’s see what happens,
9 Cheeky Tico: He will be among early leaders but if his form holds true, he will start to lag in the home turn. He will have to make me regret not using him in anything other than the superfecta.
10 Necco: He had a few excuses in his last and should do better today. Gets that first shot of Lasix. McCarthy Trevor will need to be better than his 10% winning percentage. I will use him in the superfecta.
11 Nothingtoseehere: Not sure what happened in his last start where he finished 51 lengths off the leader, but he can only do better this start. I will only watch him for signs he wants to run better
12 North Carolina: I dare say he’s the most experiences and shouldn’t have a lot of trouble out running most of these. This is his race to lose and Lezcano only needs to rate him well to get him home first. It’s tough to not use him as a single but this race may hold a surprise or two.

1, Solib: She seems to have problems holding on to leads when she gets one. She’ll probably be the controlling speed which usually doesn’t work out for her. The short distance may help her compete to hit the board
2, Flip My Id: Chased the pace in her last and gave way as they hit the stretch. Not quite sure if she has the speed to run with stronger runners entered. Anything faster than average reduces her chances to factor in my opinion.
3, Blame It On Mary: She returns to turf where she seems to prefer to be on. I’ll toss her last and she’s a bit more consistent than she looks at first glance. She can go a while on the lead but that last ½ furlong seems to be the difference maker for her in her races. I don’t see her winning but could add value to the gimmicks.
4 Shamalamadingdong: Broke that maiden in her last and now moves up in class. It’s just her 2nd start of 2022 and Clement keeps her on the green stuff and puts Rosario in the saddle. This could draw attention. She can win and it wouldn’t surprise me, but I would like to see her in the post parade before deciding where to use her.
5 No Payne: She’s always involved but only once got her head across the line first. I think 6 furlongs is just too far for her at this level. If she gets fractions that puts this race under 1:10 she’ll struggle to finish in the money. I think she’s a superfecta runner with her best.
6 Fontanafredda: This level could prove too tough for her, and she starts for the first time in almost two months. Her connections don’t do well bringing runners back from layoffs. I will look for others today.
7 Happy Hill Lil: These should prove too fast for her. Put up her best effort I her last but she always seems to run well on the Belmont lawn. Unfortunately, she lost Rosario for today’s race and this may seal her fate.
8, Dufresne: John Velazquez will need to pull out a miracle today based on her last effort. Trombetta does well with runners in their second start off layoffs. Can she pump up gimmick payouts? May be worth a shot in the bottom of the gimmicks at this level.
9 Vallelujah: I think she can be look past safely. If she beats me, she beats me.
10 Act of Congress: Cuts back for this outing and could help set the pace. I wonder will she be at her best in her third lifetime start. The outside post doesn’t help but if she can get to the lead without a lot of problems could upset. I don’t think she wins but will use her underneath. Hopefully she gets a decent trip today.
11 Lady of Thoroton: Moves up in class and she shouldn’t pressure leaders today.
12 Palace Gossip: If this race stays on the turf, she’s a contender despite the post position. She’s earned some of the better speed figures in this group and if Prat, who replaces Cancel, can get her to the lead and rate makes her the one to beat. This distance and surface appear to be what she prefers. She’s my top choice and hopefully she bounces back today.
ae13 Theodora Grace: This level could be too tough for her to come in first, but it all depends on how many and who scratches out. She appears to like the distance, but this level is her kryptonite. She shouldn’t win but can figure with the right scratches.

1, Home Base: Couldn’t get up to win the Good Lord stakes and will need a break to win today. He has a chance but will need some help from a blistering early pace that tire leaders out.
2, Seven Trumpets: Im just not seeing the 2-1 ML on this one in this race. Stalked solid fractions in the Good Lord at Ellis Park but didn’t look sharp as they neared the wire. He can win but I dont think he can win on his own. Will need help.
3, Bourbon Resolution: Won’t have the speed to win today. He’ll need the pace to fall absolutely apart. I’ll pass.
4, Midnight Sands: Comes in from UAE and thats usually enough to dissuade most bettors. I like him here. He’s never look stressed during his races and If he gets a clean break and trip I think it’s his race to lose despite the layoff. New rider Gaffalione should take notes from old jock for handling.
5, Hog Creek Hustle: This distance plays into his hands, but he will need every ounce of speed he has to notch the win. I’ll toss the last two starts, and he’s training well and could win in this short field.

2, Fastly: Led early in the slop after getting knocked around. Slowly gave way in deep stretch. Could move forward in 2nd lifetime start to figure in susuperfecta again.
3, Marsac: Not the best start in his last and raced evenly for minor rewards. Barn is ho-hum in second starts and this level should prove too tough.
4, One Nation: Barn stretches him out today, but he shouldn’t be more then a susuperfecta runner with the bump in class.
5, Abaan: A couple of decent workouts but with the low percentage rider and barn I’ll look to others.
6, Pit Boss: Lost to winners in his last and just cant seem to get this distance Im not sure it will take much to win today, and he has a shot but I expect a bounce. He’s a contender but can be beat if let loose on the lead and tires in deep stretch.
7, Discharge: Has the back class to be a contender but hasn’t raced since July I think he can put enough together to loom but is dependent on pace. A rated ride can see him as a threat.
8, Too Hot: Veteran turf runner doesn’t appear to have enough to win on the dirt. He cuts back after pushing the pace in his last start. I dont think he wins but I will use him in gimmicks.
9, Speightstown Again: He goes two extra furlongs then he ever has but doesn’t have the speed to be a late contender but a well rated ride from Hernandez should see him run well enough to crack the board with his steadily improving speed figures

2, Copa: The one decent work out he had isn’t enough to make me side with him today.
3, Lock Up: Took the field to task in his last but paid for it in the shadow of the wire. Tacks on another furlong but if he shows speed again he should fade out of contention. Superfecta maybe ??
4, Santa Cruiser: The Graham barns sends this one out and like most of this field there’s not a lot to get excited about him but his barn is hitting at an 18% clip for first time starters.
5, Essential Quality: I guess you gotta like his breeding and his work outs are nice. The Cox barn should have him ready to compete. Why not him ?
6, Xietelehaus: Everything about this one says pass. If he beats me, he beats me.
7, Devil’s Tower: Set the pace in his debut and almost pulled it off. He’ll need to find a way to go an extra panel to win. Amy improvement could see him earn minor purse monies. Underneath for me.
8, T Money: Moves up in class and I’d like to see him off the pace just a bit. The long shot was touched up a bit at the start of his last but it didn’t seem to affect him terribly. Big price underneath ?
      9. Me We: Just decent work outs for this two year old son of Fusaichi Pegasus who foals appear to take longer to get ready. I find it tough to use him in the susuperfecta for a thrill but I may.
      10. Copley: Canadian invader looks to take this fields candy. He switches to dirt and loses the hood. Ward should draw a lot of dollars, and he might get my $2.00 in this sub spectacular field.
11, Rye Sense of Humor: He didn’t appear to know what to do in the stretch of his last as he tracked the pace and then move steadily forward. Only a big effort by the winner kept him from getting his photo taken. I’ll use him and hope he improves enough to win at a price.
12, King’s Mischief: Stalked a solid pace but the overland route he uses into the stretch ended his day. Could move forward in his second start and his work outs indicate this may happen. Could be a price today.
ae13. Cool Quest: If he pulls in he will start for a trainer thats on a slight roll. Other than that I have a tough time using him in the top three today.

1, Majestic Ro: Laparoux let him loose on the lead, and he couldn’t maintain it late despite the pedestrian fractions to hold off the cavalry. Went into hiding after that and his return should be too tough.
2, Handy: Not for me today.
3, El Ahijado: This group should prove too tough.
4, Trident Hit: Moves over to turf and dons the blinkers. He’s run well without them and with the class drop could hang around for minor rewards at this length.
5, Spanish Kingdom: Appeared to just chase the fractions in his last. It wasn’t a bad run for a graded race level and two back he stalked solid early splits and then the race slowed down and seem to lull others to sleep. This let him spring out to earn the win. I can only use him in the gimmicks but wouldn’t be surprised if he won.
6, Job Security: You may be able to toss his last, and he seems to compete at this level on dirt at Churchill. He’s training well and could be used as a price in the superfecta if you can toss enough rivals out.
7, Attorney Tim: He shows good late speed and your’e going to have to guess which runner shows up today. He’s developing a good race/bad race pattern and this is bad race time, if you buy into that. Interesting runner.
8, On A Spree: He’s tough not to like but the class alone makes it tough. I like his speed and hopefully Gaffalione uses it wisely. Runs on this surface and distance nicely. I dont think he’s likely to win but may be well rested off the break to run a big one and stun.
9, Stage Ready: He’s seems to finally figure out what to do. He’s not the winner but I like his late speed, and he seems to run well versus tougher. Im chanting “Bet the horse and not the rider, bet the horse and not the rider” and will use him in the bottom of the gimmicks.
10, Parkland: Earned his first win and returns to a tougher level. Will his speed figures stop improving ? Everything seems to point to a big run with an honest effort but will his lack of speed keep him from winning. That’s the big question. I think he can at least finish in the money.
11, Cavalry Charge: Didn’t like the softer going in his last and finished well off the leaders. He’ll need to bounce back today but I dont think he gets the pace setup he needs to win.
      12. Lastchanceatglory: I dont think he runs big enough here to be a threat. I can’t see him winning two in a row. He may be a possible superfecta runner with a big effort.
Ae13, Groom Lake: Maybe next time but today only if more then half the field drops out.

1, Hersh: Even paced runner only has remote bottom of the gimmick chances today.
2, Sir Alfred James: Stretches out and moves up in class. Shows good running ability over this surface but the extra distance could loom a threat. His barn does well when switching runners off the turf. Gelding could finish in the money.
3, Coastal Defense: Bumps up to face tougher and doesn’t seem to have the speed to win but with the shorter distance could battle for smaller purse money under Alamo who seems to handle him well.
4, Wayne O: Just didn’t seem to like the mud in his last. I think I can toss that one. He’s facing winners now and seems to have enough to hang around minor rewards but the rust of 9 months off will probably keep him from hitting the board.
5, Wild Popit: These should go a little faster than him, and he should struggle in the stretch. He can run at this level but will need others to spit bits or decide to not show up to enhance his chances today. Tough spot.
6, Cool Bobby: California runner seems to have adjusted to the Midwest and although beaten in his last, a repeat of that effort can make him a tough foe. I don’t think you’ll need top-notch speed to win this race, and he might just have enough to get the job done.
7, Street Class: Another Cal shipper who shows good late foot in three of his last four start. He will need all of it to try and come from off the pace to secure the win. Im not sure he can do this off the layoff.
8, Verb: Always seems to be hanging around picking up checks. Doesn’t seem to mind being a guest at Churchill. He should be well rested and will help set the pace. I dont think he will finish sharply but can stick around for the exotics.
9, Peruvian Boy: He will need to do more as they hit the stretch. His career speed figures says he won’t. The big drop in form in his last prove the bettors correct, and he should finish well off the board today.
10, Stilts: He always works out nicely but at this level he doesn’t have enough speed to be a threat.
11, Cowboy Diplomacy: He seems to need a fast track to run his best. Post position 11 can help Bridgman see the group and decide early how to use what speed he has. I like the efforts at Oak lawn Park and hopefully these come over to Churchill Down.
12, Alex Joon: He hasn’t raced since last December but his work outs says to not worry. I think he can fit here but will Rasmussen have him ready.

1, Award Winner: Stays at this level and switches from turf to dirt. His speed has slipped a bit recently and I’ll toss him here as I only see superfecta possibilities with the move to face tougher runners.
2, All West: He’s seems to locate trouble lately and it usually costs him. Versus these tougher runners he should finish off the board. Bejarano did get him his last win two back at a easier level but that fact and a $1.00 gets you a cup of coffee….maybe.
3, Casino Star: He actually fits at this level but the year off makes me uneasy about using him. Solid workouts but he’s going to have to beat me.
4, Signalman: Former Kentucky Derby contender with a lot of promise that didn’t materialize returns to a surface he is actually good over. He’s never missed the board at Churchill and today should be no different. The class relief he should enjoy today gives him every chance to factor.
5, Tank Commander: Lightly raced horse who likes this track I think should loom large in the stretch Despite the move up in class and layoff I think I his tracking running style I have to use him.
6, Sagaponack: No explosive speed that can see him run by enough runners to be a clear gimmick horse. I do think he has just enough to threaten the superfecta if there are some key scratches.
7, Chess Chief: Declining speed figures makes him a hard decision to use. I can’t see him as a clear winner, but he’s seems able to be in a position to earn a decent check. He’s a compelling runner I’ll use in the gimmicks.
8, Mr. Quality: I can’t endorse this one at this level. If he destroys my wagers then it was destined to be.
9, Aurelius Maximus: Somehow he just kept running in his last race to notch the win. The somewhat impressive win was nice but fatigue was setting as he neared the wire so the reduced distance help. I doubt he can repeat that effort off a long layoff.
10, Bodexpress: Cuts back, and he is the class of the field. He likes to be on the bit but longer distances trip him up. This speed runner must be rated too last. I can’t not use him to win, but he always seems to tire before deep stretch. Money burner can’t be fully ignored.
11, Savvy: Shows just average speed and in this group that may be enough. However I think he’s in over his head and is seeking smaller purse money only.
12, Locally Owned: This race could actually set up for him with knucklehead 10, Bode express setting the early pace then tiring. He may have peaked in his last but anything like his last two starts puts him in with a chance despite post position 12

1, Taishan: He’ll probably be on the lead but will need to fend off veteran turf runners as they open stride late which I dont think he can. On another note, if he’s aggressive on the lead he could shake the race up.
2, American Butterfly: This distance and level should keep his name from being called much. He’ll have to beat me.
3, Sugoi: He has shown speed versus much cheaper than he’ll face today. Look for his odds, like his chance to win float upwards to the sky.
4, Field Pass: Found a little road trouble in the G3 Transylvania and it almost cost him the win He struggles a bit at this level but the lack of quality speed entered gives him a chance to factor if he can turn up his late turn of foot but I’ve always like Lemon Drop Kid offspring on turf and will use him just because of that fact.
5, Smooth Like Strait: I think he’s going to be put on the engine and try to wire the field. Should be sharper in his second off the layoff. Velazquez is crafty enough to know what he has under him and The effort in the War Chant at Churchill showed that A repeat of that makes him the one to beat.
6, Sensation: Will try to run with leaders but this should prove to be a flaw exercise. He can alter the race by backing into any runner thats trying to move forward. I think he can be used underneath.
      7. King Theo: He won’t do enough to be the winner but there’s always the superfecta.
8, Fancy Liquor: His last two efforts over softer turf conditions were decent. He almost got past 4, Field Pass two back in the G3 Transylvania. I think he challenges for the lead and could get brave if he’s still there as they exit the stretch.

Marsac: Not the best start in his last and raced evenly for minor rewards.

I find it tough to use him in the superfecta for a thrill but I may.

2, Echo Town: Ran into some sharp fractions rather easily and when he gathered himself in mid stretch it was over for the rest of the field. He has to go another panel today but if he’s handled correctly I dont see it being a huge problem. He could be tough to deal with in deep stretch.

8, Sonneman: Tougher runners that he met in the H.A. Jerkins should be enough to keep him from getting his photo taken. He can show late speed and perhaps challenge for a superfecta trip.
9, Rushie: First start off the layoff, and he may need this race before he’s in peak condition. Turns back a few panels and this should help. Both times he’s gone this distance the trips weren’t impressive. To win he will need things to go his way, but he’s probably better used underneath.

1, Drop Anchor: Stretches out and his average speed won’t sway me to use him.
2, Sittin On Go: He’ll need more here to win.
3, Super Stock: Lone Star invaders may have enough if rated to last for the gimmicks. He will probably run himself off the board.
4, Ultimate Badger: He must deal with the added distance and shouldn’t be a threat to these.
5, Dreamer’s Disease: Switches from turf to dirt and this barn is adequate doing that. He isn’t the quickest and something tells me he shouldn’t be on the lead if he wants to win.
6, Belafonte: He gets the hood added to focus after the slow start in his last. He showed one move before flattening out and I think this will hurt any chance he has to win.
7, Pico d’Oro: His barn has been bringing him alng, and he looks like he could roll today. Tacks one another furlong but must show he like running over the Churchill surface. I dont think he really does and for me this regulates him to gimmick usage.
8, Midnight Bourbon: He beat a soft, slow group in his last but will need more to repeat today. Pace setter could alter the outcome if left alone on the lead and gets brave. I think he’s just a gimmick runner at best.
9, Crazy Shot: He’ll need a lot of luck to win. Not for me today.
10, Therideofalifetime: His name fits for this race only and his back class should offer him all the relief he needs to contend for the win. If Ge roux can rate him for two extra furlongs this should be his race to lose. I think he’ll be a little too tough for these if he doesn’t regress.
11, Notary: He won’t be fast enough to win outright and will need a lot of pace help to even have a remote chance. I dont think he will get this, and he’s running for a superfecta finish at best.

1, She’sonthewarpath: Not enough speed to be considered a threat although she runs well at this distance. Next.
2, Daddy Is a Legend: I’m not sure what happened in her last but I think it can be tossed as she virtually stopped in the stretch. She’s consistent at this distance and should be stronger in her second start off the layoff. With a couple of breaks she could win.
3, Juliet Foxtrot: Early pace setter could find it difficult to keep closers from going right on past her in deep stretch. This distance is in her wheel house, and she’ll need everything she has to win, but she’s better used underneath.
4, Newspaperofrecord: She may have benefited from a tune up race, but she’s nothing but speed and if she can get it going will be tough to catch. She’s well rested from the Chad Brown stable and clearly had the bullseye on her at this distance, surface and track.
5, Harmless: And her name fits her in this group. She rarely shows the late speed like she did in her last and this should keep her off the board.
6, Beau Recall: This veteran graded stakes runner looks tough but is showing declining form. She likes this distance. Her class as well as the late speed she possesses can keep her in contention for an in the money finish.
7, La Signare: I think she’s needs more to a threat. I dont think she’s ready to perform her best.

1, Mia Mischief: She usually runs better after a race off the layoff. She likes running over this surface and has only missed the board once in 9 races. The 7 panels will probably see her come up just short enough to miss the win.
2, Shesomajestic: She should be over matched.
3, Wild wood’s Beauty: Seven furlong specialist just cant seem to do enough to hit the mark. I think there is a chance she can close with a rush and could pump up the superfecta.
4, Bell’s The One: She’s not consistent enough to be a big threat and unless something strange happens, she should miss the board.
5, Crazy Sexy Munny: errr no.
6, Sally’s Curlin: I think she will be out classed and can only make a superfecta run due to her late speed and number of not so strong runners entered.
7, Lady Kate: Not today. The classier runners will keep her in the back of the pack.
8, Serengeti Empress: She has the speed to get a big lead and then try to turn back others in the stretch. This is no guaranteed win for her. Speed figures are all over the place and you have to wonder who’s going to show. The triple digit wonder filly or the spit the bitter this distance is what she likes and she’s hard to dismiss but….
9, Bellafina: She’s never missed the board at 7 furlongs and that should hold true today. There’s not much to beat entered but her speed is so inconsistent. She’s a money burner so if you use her be aware of that fact.
10, Ce Ce: California shipper will need to prove she can handle this surface. Note the good trip at Oak lawn which a lot of runners find tough. The cutback in distance should help her and with a clean trip a win isn’t out of the question but I’ll use her in my gimmick plays.

      Race 13
1, Factor This: Riding a 4 race win streak he’s going to help set the pace. He races well here and this distance seems to be what he likes. Long time rider Bridgman knows what he can do and if he improves should be among leaders as the hit the wire.
2, Bowies Hero: He could regress a bit over Churchill’s turf surface after racing mostly in California. Erratic speed figures also make it tough to see which runner you will get but this distance might make it a little tough to chose him as a winner.
3, Rock emperor: Well traveled turf runner has all the late speed you desire in a turf runner but will be at the mercy of the pace. He’s been a beaten favorite in his last two starts and I think he comes up a step short today if they even run a tick faster standard fractions then normal.
4, Digital Age: I think he’s in over his head. I have to pass.
5, Don’tblamerocket: Not for me at this level.
6, Mr Dumas: He simply can not run with these.
7, True Valor: He may have seen his better racing days.
8, Sacred Life: I dont think he’s a huge threat to win but I do like some of the big late speed he seems to show. If he gets swift early splits that tire out leaders you may see him barreling into deep stretch upset minded but I will use him in my gimmicks.
      9. Somelikeithotbrown: When racing on the green stuff he’s a slightly different animal. He’s only missed the board once in 7 tries on sod. He should tire and back up but I think he might stick around for the trifecta.
10, Spectacular Gem: I dont think he will be a threat but not he has won 5 of his 9 turf starts versus cheaper. That definitely doesn’t mean he will have a big shot here but I think I would like to see him inflate my superfecta.

      Race 14
1, Finnick The Fierce: At least his owners can says for the rest of their lives “We had a derby runner…….ONCE”
2, Max Player: Ran under restraint and made a tepid bid as they hit the stretch in the Travers and just out muscled others to hit the board. Had to swing wide to get a clear path in the Belmont. I think if he can find a clean path and gets it together in the stretch he can hit the board but must avoid traffic in this large group.
3, Enforceable: Had a eventful trip in the Louisiana Derby and somehow got close to hitting the board while chasing decent splits. His 4th place finish in the Blue Grass was also nothing to write home about he as just ran and passed a lot of tired horses. Use him underneath.
4, Storm The Court: Thank you for participating, have a nice day!
5, Major Fed: Straight to the back of the pack in the Louisiana Derby. Made his move at the 1/2 mile pole but had nowhere to go. When he got his hole he traded paint with 14, Modernist in the stretch and that may have stopped his forward progress. The trip in the Matt Winn was a disaster. Let’s forget it. He somehow managed to run into a subpar pace in the Indiana Derby to earn a place finish. I think he’s good for superfecta placings at best
6, King Guillermo: He tracked the pace in the Arkansas derby and got close to eventual winner Nadal but was unable to get past him. Upset the Tampa Bay Derby at 50-1 when the favorite Sole Vol ante fail to get to him. I think he won’t run nearly as “well” as he did in those two starts, and he may be useful in superfecta wagers if they are affordable.
7, Money Moves: Not a lot to say about this one but if he recreates his last could boost the superfecta a few dollars
8, South Bend: He’s too slow to get excited about.
9, Mr. Big News: Just looped around the circuit mostly behind a wall of horses in the Blue Grass and was forgettable. he’ll have to beat me.
10, A Thousand Words: No, got lucky in the Shared belief, and he will definitely have to beat me today.
11, Necker Island: Had to pump the brakes in the Matt Winn despite the tepid pace. He never truly recovered but to me his stretch run looked good. he stumbled and pushed to the front in the Indiana Derby where he settled and track the pace running three wide through the turn and fought gamely to claim third. Not sure he can be a factor today
12, Sole Volante: Came up the rail strongly from a long way back in the Tampa Bay Derby but was too late to reach 49-1 winner King Guillermo. There may be too much traffic as he tries to pass others to reach the winner in this race but has the late speed to hit the board if he finds a clear path.
13, Attachment Rate: Raced mid pack early in the Blue Grass and was blocked when he tried to move forward. Reengaged the pace and made a nice move to leaders but was unable to gain ground. Tracked pace setters in the Matt Winn and when asked, seem to take a while to respond, but he did move firmly in the stretch. Looks like he could run for minor rewards if he can clear traffic
14, Winning Impression: He should be a also ran.
15, Ny Traffic: Nothing bad to say in his Louisiana Derby effort where he tracked the gate to wire winner Wells bayou at long odds. Our finished the large field despite drifting badly in mid stretch. In the Matt Winn I dont think Lopez expected the slower times but welcomed them where he almost out finished a surging 10, Max field. He’s hard not to like and if he runs his own race could, COULD, take advantage of a less then ideal trip from Tiz the Law.
16, Honor A.P.: Staked pace setters in the Santa Anita derby. Once Smith let him loose he made quick work of the field to win it. The Shared belief was not much more then a 4 horse tuneup but it was am ominous trip. I think it solidi es him as a gimmick runner.
      17. Tiz the Law: What can i say. Only some terrible racing luck should keep him from winning this. Breaks from post position 17 helps him keep clear of he field and this is what he wants. I see no reason he should lose this unless Franco loses his ever loving mind.
18, Authentic: Led the Haskell gate to wire under a stout pace but almost gave it away to 15, Ny Traffic late. Broke outwardly in the Santa Anita and it cost him ground Overwhelming favorite failed to win but didn’t look too tired in the stretch. His lack of desire to finish a race strongly will keep him from winning and possibly off the board.

t appeared that Prat had no idea how to handle him in the Shared Belief, and he finished 4th in a field of four. It appears with the Baffert trained speed this is his race to win. He cuts back and if he gets a clean decisive trip he could be the first under the wire.
2, Echo Town: Ran into some sharp fractions rather easily and when he gathered himself in mid stretch it was over for the rest of the field. He has to go another panel today but if he’s handled correctly I dont see it being a huge problem. He could be tough to deal with in deep stretch.
3, Shashashakemeup: Tougher runners should keep him off the board. He might be able to get into the susuperfecta with a big effort.
4, Vertical Threat: His speed figures are improving, and he stretches out to a distance he’s never raced before. If he gets to the lead early it’s hard to see him holding on to it late. I might stick him in the bottom of my exotic wagers.
5, Digital: He runs well here at Churchill but anything over 6 furlongs is a question. I can only look for him to boost my susuperfecta wager.
6, Tap It To Win: Led the G1 Belmont under stern splits until Tiz The Law decided to take over. There wasn’t much he could do. He then took the lead with strong splits in the G1 HA Jerkens and got the lead late but was taken over by a determined Echo Town.
