      KEENELAND

      RACE 9 – 5 ½ Furlongs (Turf) BUFFALO TRACE FRANKLIN COUNTY (G3) $150,000

      3 – MORTICIA (9/2)

      2 – OLEKSANDRA (5/1)

      11 – GIRLS KNOW BEST (6/1)

      5 – HOTSHOT ANNA (8/1)

      8 – A LITTLE BIT ME (8/1)

      10 – GOLDWOOD (8/1)

      12 – PAINTING CORNERS (8/1)

3 – MORTICIA just won gate to wire at Kentucky Downs in the G3 Ladies Sprint at 6 ½ Furlongs. That was her second win in her last 4 starts but only her third win in her last 12. While a model of consistency, she has been a money burner since she is always over bet. Her lifetime turf record is 24-10-6-5. The 3 out of the money efforts were fourth place finishes so she is 24 for 24 in the Superfecta. At today’s distance her record is 20-8-5-4.

2 – OLEKSANDRA finished third behind Morticia last time when that mare got away with a lonely lead but beat her in the 100k Smart and Fancy at today’s distance in her prior start. This mare has won 5 of her last 9. She does need pace help up front as proved last time. She poses a serious threat to the top choice today.

11 – GIRLS KNOW BEST has led at the first call in all her last 10 turf sprints going gate to wire in 5 of those 10 turf dashes. She led all the way in this race last year but gave it up in the stretch to finish fourth. Everything seems to indicate there will be a strong pace battle for the lead today.

8 – A LIITLE BIT ME finished second behind Morticia last time closing from sixth finishing in front of Oleksandra by half a length. While she has won once at today’s distance, it appears she prefers longer. She has also only won twice in her last 12 starts. She should also appreciate a contested pace.

10 – GOLDWOOD has won 8 of her last 12 and her last 5 in a row. She also has been right on top of the pace in those last 5 wins. Those recent wins were all at Monmouth and Laurel, and against easier competition. She adds more fuel to the pace.

12 – PAINTING CORNERS has won 2 minor turf stakes in Southern California and her success also comes from being close-up early. She could not keep up with the pace pressure last time behind Morticia.
