INDIANA DOWNS STAKES RACE ANALYSIS FOR WEDNESDAY – 9/4/2019

      8TH RACE – INDIANA GRAND STAKES $200,000

5 – WINTER SUNSET (6/1) – With in the money finishes in the (G3) Regret and the (G3) Edgewood at Churchill Downs and in the (G3) Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay, lands a soft spot in this non-graded stakes. Her  two wins were at 7 1/2 furlongs and today’s distance of 1 mile both on the turf.

12 – SHE’SONTHEWARPATH (4/1) – Won the $100k Ta Wee at Indiana Downs at today’s distance, her 3rd win in a row and her first in a stakes.

4- BE NIMBLE (12/1) – Was 3rd in the Ta Wee behind the 12 horse and could be a factor here at a longshot price.

8 – BOXWOOD (9/2 – Won the $100k GingerBrew at Gulfstream in January at 7 1/2 on the turf and returns to her favorite surface after getting thrashed in the (G1) Coaching Club Oaks.

      9TH RACE – CAESAR’S STAKES $200,000

5 – FARAWAY KITTEN (4/1) – Won the $200k Mystic Lake Derby at Canterbury at today’s distance and the G3 American Debutante at Arlington at 1 1/16 on the lawn. He was overmatched in the G1 Secretariat at Arlington last time and should be tough to beat in this spot.

6- CRAFTY DADDY (5/2) – Was only beaten a neck by the top horse in the G3 American Debutante and actually finished ahead of that one in the G1 Secretariat last time and will be in front of that one early on.

3- GRAY MAGICIAN (3/1) – I Am assuming this horse will scratch since he did run Monday at Parx. This one has also never raced on turf.

9 – RIJEKA (12/1) – Closed well for 3rd in the $117k Oceanside at Del Mar which is significant because Nolde who finished second in that common race, just upset the G2 Del Mar Derby on Sunday.

7 – IRISH HEATWAVE (15/1) – Also ships in from Del Mar, and while he has had all of his success against Cal-Breds, won his 3rd race back at GG at this distance and was only beaten a head in the $200k Snow Chief on turf. Trainer Keith Desormeaux does well with West Coast longshot shippers.
