      HONG KONG STAKES RACES

      DECEMBER 11-12, 2021

This week’s best stakes races take place in Hong Kong this weekend. The good news is you can bet on them, even though you will have to stay up late if you want to watch them live. The first G1 begins at 1:00 a.m.  PST Sunday morning

HORSES ARE LISTED IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE

      4TH RACE – HONG KONG VASE 1 ½ Turf $2.5M

#2 GLORY VASE 3/1 – Second behind Loves Only You in April in $3M race at Sha Tin and finished third last time off a 5-month rest. Won twice at today’s distance $1.2M race in Japan in 2020 and at Sha Tin in a $2.7M race in 2019.

5TH RACE – HONG KONG SPRINT 6 FURLONGS Turf $3.0M

#2 PIXIE KNIGHT 7/2 – Just won $2.2M turf sprint at Nakayama beating rival Resistencia by 2 decisive lengths. Finished second beaten a neck by that same rival who he meets for the third time in what should be the rubber match between the 2.

#12 RESISTENCIA 4/1 – Has traded decisions with Pixie Knight the last 2 races. Also finished second behind Danon Smash in a $2.2M race in March by a neck. In his last 4 races he has 2 wins and 2 seconds. Serious threat again.

#3 DANON SMASH 9/2 – Won this race last year $2.7M and won again $2.2M sprint in March beating Resistencia. His last pair have been short priced off the board finishes putting his current form in doubt.

#4 WELLINGTON 15/2 – Also won a $2.2M Sprint in April here, but his return race in November wasn’t good.

      7TH RACE – HONG KONG MILE 1 M TURF $3.3M

#1 GOLDEN SIXTY 5/2 – Horse has won 18 of 19 starts and is 7 for 7 at the distance. Won this race last year, and $3M races since all here at Sha Tim. Horse to beat every time out.

#2 DANON KINGLY 3/1 – Second in Tokyo in $1.1M at 1/8 miles last in October and won $2.1M at a mile in prior start. Poses biggest threat to the top horse in here.

#4 WAIKUKU 16/1 – Second at 15/1 behind Golden Sixty in that one’s comeback and did win $1.4M race at Sha Tin in February.

#5 MORE THAN THIS 21/1 – Fourth behind Golden Sixty in same common race in November and was second behind Golden Sixty in April in a $2.4M here at the distance. Doesn’t win but logical longshot underneath.

      8TH RACE – HONG KONG CUP 1 1/4 MILES TURF $3.9M

#12 LOVES ONLY YOU 4/1 – Fresh off successful U.S. invasion, winning the $1.9M Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Two back won $3M Sha Tin 1 1/4 race. Also only missed by half a length behind champion Mishriff, in $4.6M race at 1 1/2 miles, finishing third at Dubai on The World Cup undercard. This mare has really blossomed in her last 5 races.

#8 DUBAI HONOUR 5/1 – Finished second last out in the $1.7M Champions Stakes at Royal Ascot.  He won his previous 3 starts and has real come into his own.

#9 MAC SWINEY 13/1 – Was third just behind Dubai Honour at Royal Ascot last time, only losing by just over 2 lengths for the whole thing. That was his best race ever. Longshot chance

#11 LEI PAPALE 9/2 – Won gate to wire twice last December and April, the latter worth $2.2M at today’s distance. Has faded his last 3 but speed is always dangerous and should be in front a long way. Similar tactics almost beat the Top horse in the Breeders’ Cup.
