Enticed Retired To Darley America For 2020

Enticed, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Medaglia d’Oro out of triple Grade 1 winner It’s Tricky, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2020 breeding season at Darley‘s Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky., at a fee of $10,000, stands and nurses.

Enticed, who raced for Godolphin under the care of trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, broke his maiden on debut at Saratoga as a 2-year-old and was placed in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes before capturing his first graded stakes in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs. He returned at three to win the G3 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct, earning a 95 Beyer Speed Figure, before finishing second to Vino Rosso in the G2 Wood Memorial.

Enticed is the second foal out of Godolphin’s accomplished three-time Grade 1 winner It’s Tricky (Mineshaft), who was also conditioned by Kiaran McLaughlin. Her victories included the G1 Acorn, the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks and the G1 Ogden Phipps. She was also placed in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic, G1 Alabama, G1 Beldame and G1 Personal Ensign during a stellar career in which she earned over $1.6 million.

Enticed’s sire Medaglia d’Oro is having another terrific year with four new G1 winners in 2019, bringing his career total to 25. His top performers this year include G1 Pacific Classic winner and Breeders’ Cup Classic contender Higher Power, plus G1 Del Mar Oaks and G1 Queen Elizabeth II heroine Cambier Parc.

Medaglia d’Oro also continues to be one of the most in-demand sires at the sales with 16 million-dollar yearlings in the past four years, a number that can’t be matched by any other stallion.

Darren Fox, Darley’s sales manager in America, said: “We are extremely excited to stand Enticed at Darley. A very special situation really. A Godolphin homebred, by Medaglia d’Oro, and out of Godolphin’s multiple G1 winner It’s Tricky. Add to all that, he is physically outstanding and we think he represents great value for breeders with a lot of upside.”

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said “It’s Tricky was one of the best fillies I ever trained. It was so special to have a son of Medaglia d’Oro out of her show so much talent. Enticed was a very smart horse that really did everything right.”

Enticed will be available for inspection at Jonabell Farm’s Open House during the November sales, from Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 15, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
