Keeneland's 2024 Fall Meet will stand out in track history for being the most lucrative racing season with 22 stakes worth a record $9.85 million.

Keeneland will catalog 13 broodmares and two broodmare prospects for the dispersal of Stuart S. Janney III. The horses will be consigned by Claiborne Farm.

Momentum for an already record-breaking auction continued all the way to Book 6 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale Sept. 20, as total sales were up 15% from the corresponding 2023 session.

Through the 10th session of the sale, Keeneland has grossed $420,632,000, surpassing the previous record set in 2022 at $418,271,200 for 2,963 horses that sold.

McPeek, one of the leading trainers in North America, has been very active at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, with 26 purchases for a total of $4,887,000 through Sept. 17.

The colt was consigned and bred by Gainesway. McKinzie topped the sire list for the seventh session of the Keeneland September Sale, which showed there is still a strong market for the top horses.

Although the lucrative meet at Kentucky Downs has come to an end for 2024, the impact can still be felt in the Keeneland September Yearling Sale ring as prospective buyers begin to search for the horse that can bring home…
